QUESTION -- We are a family of three (one toddler, and another on the way) and are planning an overhaul of our kitchen.

The house is only five years old, but the current kitchen layout is impractical, the style is already outdated and the finishes that were used on the floor, the counter top and the laminate cabinet faces are well-used and impossible to keep clean.

On the upside, the room is bright and is well connected to the family room where the baby plays and features a large patio door with a nice view outside.
