The Clatsop County government issued the following news release:
Gene Strong, Emergency Services coordinator for the Clatsop County Sheriff's Office, offers the following timely tips for handling winter storms.
* Be prepared for power outages.
* If your power is out use flashlights instead of candles. Candles are responsible for many major fires during winter weather conditions.
* If using kerosene heaters, maintain ventilation to avoid build-up of toxic fumes. Keep heaters at least three feet from things that can burn. Refuel kerosene heaters ...
