Longtime Congressman Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., has stirred up a hornet's nest of controversy - and found himself largely abandoned even by his fellow Democrats in Congress - in the wake of his announced effort to reinstate the draft.

But it is entirely too easy to dismiss Rangel's concerns in the wake of the draft's unpopularity, without considering exactly what Rangel has to say.
