Nedocromil sodium twice daily for 4 days, 15 minutes before tee off keeps ragweed pollen at bay
Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada-Golfers who suffer from allergy to ragweed pollen can treat themselves with nedocromil sodium 2% ophthalmic solution (Alocril, Allergan) for 4 days before taking to the links and then about 15 minutes before starting a round of golf-and their usual symptoms will be substantially reduced.
Most of the golfers who participated in a recent study rated the treatment as moderately or completely effective, according to Michael Alexander, FRCPC, assistant professor, Niagara Clinical Teaching and Research, University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, Canada.
