Article: CITY TO LAUNCH THREE MONTH TRANSIT PILOT PROGRAM FOR SANTA CLARITA SENIORS

The city of Santa Clarita issued the following news release:

On September 26, the Santa Clarita City Council approved a three-month pilot program dubbed, "FREEdom for Seniors," which will provide local bus service no cost during all hours of transit operation for seniors ages 60 and above. This pilot program will begin Sunday, October 1, 2006.

"FREEdom for Seniors," will transition ambulatory seniors from the costly paratransit service to Santa Clarita's fixed route network, thereby increasing capacity aboard the paratransit for non-ambulatory residents and a cost savings to the City as well as senior residents.
