The decision by Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives to open a storefront agricultural extension service centre on Scurfield Boulevard in Winnipeg's may seem a little odd to some urbanites.

After all, there aren't many farmers operating inside the city limits.

But this Urban GO (Growing Opportunities) Centre, what the department now calls its ag reps' offices, marks an important paradigm shift for agriculture in this province.
