Over the past three years, BCPL has had increasing difficulty in purchasing videos from vendors due to the industry-wide reduction in video production. Because of difficulty in purchasing materials in VHS format, we have not purchased nonfiction or feature videos for our adult collections since August 2005. In January 2006, adult feature video collections were removed from all branches. At that time, the decision was made that nonfiction videos would remain in the collection while we continued to build our nonfiction DVD collection.
The juvenile video collections were maintained at that point because they were much more readily available than adult video. However, Collection Development has ...
