Article: RENO FIRE DEPARTMENT: STAY OFF ICE IN TRUCKEE RIVER

The city of Reno issued the following news release:

The Reno Fire Department is urging people to take caution and stay off of ice in the Truckee River, in local streams, ponds and lakes because the ice that has formed may not hold the weight of a person and could plunge them into freezing waters.

Firefighters on the Reno Fire Department's Water Entry Team (WET) are also cautioning local residents to keep track of children and pets that may venture onto ice covered freezing water subjecting them to hypothermia and possible death.
