Boo may walk on four legs, but she's still a member of the family. And just like her owners, Jeff and Julie Mack, Boo has health insurance.

The couple, from Somers Point, owned a beagle and a Labrador who both suffered serious health problems that would have been covered under a pet-insurance policy. Jeff Mack said they could have saved hundreds of dollars or more.

Once they adopted Boo from a dog rescue in Maryland, they immediately purchased a policy for her through Veterinary Pet Insurance, or VPI.
