Stepan Company (Northfield, Illinois), a global manufacturer of specialty and intermediate chemicals, has announced that it has signed a $3 million grant agreement with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity's Renewable Fuels Development Program for the expansion of biodiesel production at its Millsdale, Illinois, facility. Payment of the grant is contingent upon Stepan Company Board of Director approval. Stepan currently produces approximately 19 million gallons of biodiesel per year at its Millsdale facility, located near Joliet, Illinois.
