Article: Australian Inventor Develops Inert Gas Supply Arrangement Printer

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 18 -- Kia Silverbrook of Balmain, Australia, has developed a printer with an inert gas supply arrangement.

According to the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A printing assembly has a printing unit and an inert gas supply that supplies an inert gas, such as nitrogen, to components of the printing unit during a printing operation. The inert gas environment prevents oxidation of any high temperature components of the printing unit, such as thermal actuators of a printhead chip."

The inventor was issued U.S. Patent No. 6,997,544 on Feb. 14, 2006.

The patent has been assigned to Silverbrook Research Pty Ltd., Balmain.
