This is an opera best seen live. Of course, one can say that about every opera, but certain ones really benefit from the live experience. Prokofiev's fairy tale, The Love for Three Oranges, amasses an absolute crowd onstage, invokes the commedia dell'arte tradition and calls for serious suspension of disbelief- all easier to take in when sitting in the theater.
