The Indiana State Senate Republicans issued the following news release:
Property taxes would be outlawed-in fact made unconstitutional-under bills filed today by a large bi-partisan group of Senate and House members.
Other legislators are expected to be added to the list of more than a dozen co-authors and sponsors who want to permanently eliminate property taxes - a system they say is both antiquated and unfair.
Property taxes are center stage this year at the Statehouse. Lawmakers from both parties agree property taxes are out of control across Indiana. State figures show a 450 percent increase since 1981. Estimates predict property taxes may increase another 15 percent this year. At that ...
