The Defenders of Wildlife issued the following news release:
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) announced today a proposal to remove gray wolves in the northern Rockies from the federal endangered species list. The decision would hand wolf management responsibilities over to some states that are more committed to wolf eradication than conservation and would thus jeopardize the continued recovery of the wolf in the region.
