Article: Hong Kong Inventors Develop Flashing Light System Inertia Switch

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 31 -- Wai Kai Wong and Lai Cheong Mak, both of Kowloon, Hong Kong, have developed an inertia switch and flashing light system. According to the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Inertia switches in insulating housings are used to make or break electrical contact. The switches may be small in size, and may be used with flashing light systems in footwear or other articles."

An abstract of the invention, released by the Patent Office, said: "One embodiment is a directional switch sensitive to the orientation of the switch and the motion of the switch due to outside forces.
