Franciscan Skemp Medical Center opened its new employee parking ramp Monday, paving the way for the construction of a $28.4 million center for advanced medicine and surgery.
Dr. David Nelson, chairman of Franciscan Skemp Healthcare's board of directors, said the $3.5 million parking ramp at Market and Ferry streets northwest of the hospital was completed within 10 months.
The parking ramp, the first privately-owned and funded ramp in La Crosse, has 320 spaces for employees on three levels and will be able to accommodate half of the medical center's staff, Nelson said. The parking ramp had to be completed before starting construction of the center for advanced medicine and surgery.
