Article: HEARING SCHEDULED ON ILLINOIS CORN MARKETING BOARD REFERENDUM

The Illinois Department of Agriculture issued the following news release:

Illinois Agriculture Director Chuck Hartke invites Illinois corn producers to submit their views and opinions on the proposed corn checkoff referendum at a public hearing Feb. 16, 2007.

The Illinois Corn Marketing Board proposes enhancing marketing and promotion of corn by increasing the checkoff amount by 1/8 cent per bushel. This would increase the current ¼ cent voluntary checkoff rate to 3/8 of a cent per bushel. Growers would continue to have a right to refund.
