Acquiring trailer-tracking firm Terion Inc. will allow General Electrics equipment services unit to offer a wider selection of monitoring options for highway trailers, company officials said.
Thomas Konditi, president of GE's asset intelligence division, said the purchase of Terion means GE can offer customers a choice between its satellite-based tracking system and Terion's cellular platform. The deal was announced Jan. 11(1-15, p. 4).
"Our plan is to build a dual system that will allow customers to take advantage of the benefits of both [cellular and satellite] technologies," Konditi told transport topics.
