WASHINGTON, Feb. 9 -- Rep. Ron Lewis, R-Kentucky, has introduced the Investment in Energy Independence Act of 2006 (H.R. 683), legislation that would "amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to promote investment in energy independence through coal to liquid technology, biomass, and oil shale."
The bill, introduced on Jan. 24, was co-sponsored by Reps. Lincoln Davis, D-Tennessee; Devin Nunes, R-California; Hal Rogers, R-Kentucky; Shelley M. Capito, R-West Virginia; Geoff Davis, R-Kentucky; Ed Whitfield, R-Kentucky; Chip Pickering, R-Mississippi; John Shimkus, R-Illinois; and Thaddeus McCotter, R-Michigan. It was referred to the House Committee.
