The Environmental Protection Agency Region 4 office issued the following news release:

In October 2006, Spelman College took a bold step toward environmental responsibility by breaking ground for its new "green" residence hall. That step has led to a historic visit by EPA Administrator Stephen L. Johnson to the campus to sign a collaborative Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The 2007 MOU between EPA and Spelman College will affirm EPA's commitment to partner in an effort to enhance environmental stewardship and sustainability as well as ensure that EPA has an adequate representation of highly trained diverse professionals.
