The government of United Kingdom's Ministry of Defence's Royal Navy issued the following news release:
The 200th anniversary of the abolition of the slave trade in the United Kingdom is being commemorated in Bristol with the help of two Portsmouth-based Royal Navy mine countermeasures vessels.
HMS Ledbury visited Bristol's waterfront on 14-19 February 2007, and opened her doors to the public, while her sister ship HMS Cattistock will be there in March.
Lieutenant Commander Paul Russell, Commanding Officer of HMS Ledbury, said:
