The Vermont Department of Health issued the following news release:
The Vermont Department of Health will conduct an eight-hour "tabletop" exercise at the Sheraton Conference Center in South Burlington, to test the state's response when hospital bed capacity is overwhelmed during an influenza pandemic.
An influenza pandemic is a global outbreak that occurs when a new type of flu surfaces and rapidly spreads from person to person. At its peak, a widespread outbreak of pandemic influenza could affect one out of three Vermonters.
