Gov. Haley Barbour, R-Miss., issued the following press release:

Gov. Haley Barbour today announced the appointment of Connie Shanks-Knight, of Laurel, to the State Board of Massage Therapy, which regulates the practice of massage therapy in Mississippi.

"Connie is an important figure in the field of massage therapy in Mississippi, and her experience makes her well-qualified to serve in this capacity. I am confident she will be an asset to the citizens of Mississippi while working as a member of this regulatory board," Governor Barbour said.

Shanks-Knight has practiced massage therapy since 1991, when she attended Blue Cliff School of Therapeutic Massage in New Orleans. In 1994, she opened ...
