Article: Colorado Inventors Develop Fluid Metering Valve

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 26 -- Barry T. Brinks, Dana Nova Joyce Wolverton, and Gary F. McDaniel, all from Fort Collins, Colo., and Delbert Dwight Cannon of Greeley, Colo., have developed gear mechanisms and/or shutoff mechanisms for fluid metering valves.

According to the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A fluid metering valve includes a gear rack which is slidable on a valve stem in which a spring counteracts the force of an actuator to maintain a constant load on the gear mechanism to prevent backlash."
