Article: MICH. REPUBLICAN PARTY: STATE GOVERNMENT MUST PAY ITS BILLS ON TIME, JUST LIKE MICHIGAN RESIDENTS

The Michigan Republican Party issued the following news release:

State Rep. Paul Opsommer today introduced legislation requiring state government to adhere to the same rule that all Michigan consumers must follow - pay your bills on time or get slapped with an interest fee.

House Bill 4081 requires state government to make payments to local municipalities within 30 days of the designated time. If the state fails to do so, interest shall accrue until the payment is made.

"Anybody in Michigan who uses a credit card knows what will happen if they don't pay their bill in 30 days, and there's no reason why state government should be exempt from this standard business practice," said Opsommer, ...
