For the past two decades there have been signs of increasing interest in an emerging perspective - perhaps a "proto-paradigm" - that promises to offer new possibilities for understanding ourselves, our worlds, and their intricate relationships. A variety of labels have been applied to this new approach: Cognitive Constructivist, Constructivist, Process-Oriented, Post-Rationalist, Developmental, Motor Metatheory, Evolutionary Epistemological, Dynamic Systems, Autopoietic, SelfOrganizational, Complex Systems, and so on (Burrell, 1987; Guidano, 1987,1991; Mahoney, 1991,1995).
