WASHINGTON, Mar. 1 -- Rep. Richard Baker, R-Louisiana, has introduced the Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission Act (H.R. 1131), legislation that would "establish a commission to commemorate the sesquicentennial of the American Civil War."
The bill, introduced on Feb. 16, was co-sponsored by Reps. Jim McCrery, R-Louisiana; Rodney Alexander, D-Louisiana; Charlie Melancon, D-Louisiana; Bobby Jindal, R-Louisiana; Charles Boustany Jr., D-Louisiana; Frank Wolf, R-Virginia; and Todd Russell Platts, R-Pennsylvania. It was referred to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.
