Sir,

Michael Portillo often writes good sense but his article Duncan Smith pins down Britain, the unequal nation (17/12/06) indicates that he understands neither the nature nor the magnitude of the problem posed by our ever increasing underclass.

We are not dealing with a few hundred, or even a few thousand, people who were or are emotionally deprived children. They now run to millions and they breed more emotionally deprived children. What is more, it is the policy of our establishment, both deliberately, and in criminally negligent ignorance, to create more.

In this it is not only the socialists and LibDems ...
