That's New York State, Not City...

Who knew that New York State was missing an encyclopedia? With a history as rich as that of New York State, one would think that there are loads of books that compile the region's bygone essentials into an easy index-but apparently not. Syracuse University Press will be the first to publish a comprehensive study of the Empire State since 1860. The new Encyclopedia of New York State will be released on May 31, 2005 and includes more than 500 illustrations, 140 tables, 120 maps, and 4600 entries written by 1200 authors. One of these authors is Pam Chenkin, a Hunter College student who, incidentally, wrote the encyclopedia's entry on Hunter College as well. ...
