Article: RIVER EXPLORER CLOSES ITS FIRST SEASON

Winona State University issued the following news release:

Winona State University recently docked its riverboat, the River Explorer, for the winter, closing its first full season of use.

Various disciplines, from geoscience to theater, chemistry to education, took advantage of the River Explorer, making about 38 trips-some about an hour long, others as long as three days-between the beginning of the academic year and the boat's winter retirement.

Students studied the movement of water and applied it to modern dance techniques, obtained and analyzed thousands of water samples, listened to local river experts and camped on sandbars.
