The government of Germany issued the following news release:

Protecting the climate while driving or flying on official business? Sounds like a contradiction in terms. But it's not. As of the beginning of this year travel by government employees on official business is being kept climate neutral.

The amount of carbon dioxide emissions caused by these trips are to be made up for by reducing emissions elsewhere. The German cabinet approved a corresponding bill in Berlin on February 28.
