TRENTON, N.J., March 2 -- New Jersey State Sen. Anthony R. Bucco, R-Denville, has introduced a bill (S.B. 2501) that requires the Attorney General to defend local law enforcement officers in the event of legal action taken against them.
According to the statement included in the bill as filed: "This bill would require the Attorney General to defend local law enforcement officers who are subject to a legal action arising out of the lawful exercise of their police powers while assigned to and working under the supervision of a State law enforcement officer or agency."
