The U.S. Department of Justice's Federal Bureau of Investigation's Los Angeles Field Office issued the following press release:

The FBI and multiple police departments are seeking the public's help in identifying the "Goofy Hat Bandit," a male bank robber who is believed to be responsible for up to as many as 32 bank robberies in Southern California since October 2005. The Goofy Hat Bandit most recently attempted to rob a Union Bank of California in Encino on December 2, 2006, and then robbed a Bank of America in Pasadena the same day.
