The New Mexico Department of Higher Education issued the following news release:

The New Mexico Senate today confirmed Dr. Beverlee J. McClure as the first New Mexico Secretary of Higher Education. McClure was appointed by New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson. She has been serving as Secretary Designee since September 2005.

"Secretary McClure's strong leadership, collaborative approach, and dedication to the success of students of all ages and backgrounds will continue to support my vision for higher education in New Mexico," said Governor Richardson.
