La Familia Restaurant's homemade Puerto Rican cuisine has attracted customers from throughout Lancaster for 11 years. The food, however, is not the only thing generating interest lately, said manager Linda Hernandez.

The restaurant, at 424 S. Duke St. near downtown Lancaster, participated in a neighborhood facade improvement program last year. The business's clean, creamcolored brick, bright red awnings and yellow paint on the trim around the large windows are a beacon to potential customers.
