Baldor buys British control maker

Baldor Electric Co., the manufacturer of motors and controls based in Fort Smith, Ark., has bought Optimised Control Ltd., of Bristol, England, a manufacturer of motion control products. Annual sales for Optimised Control are about $7 million, most of that in the U.K. The company's products include a controller that offers motion, I/O, operator interface, and serial communication in a single panel-mount enclosure, as well as a controller with up to eight axes of closed-loop servo control.
