Four workers spent six days scrubbing the walls of Paxtang Cemetery's mausoleum until the white marble sparkled once again. The hallways are chilling, but the sunlight streaming through the stained-glass windows creates a sense of peace.

Stepping outside, the grounds of the graveyard expand across 33 acres of rolling hills, 12 acres of which are undeveloped. Alesia Skinner and her family have spent the past eight months cleaning up and repairing the damage left after years of neglect.

"It was actually kind of ignored for the past 20 years. The roads had potholes the size of cars," Skinner said.
