Article: Indian art sales in the West set to sky-rocket

London, March 19 -- Indian art is becoming hot property in the Western world these days, thanks to wealthy expatriates vying for the works of painters from the 1950s, as well as those by contemporary artists.

And, with the increased interest in the work of Indian artists, there has also been an increase in the interest that Western galleries are showing in the works of artists like Kerala-born Riyas Komu, Amrita Shergill.

Indian Prices of Indian art have risen to more than 20 times their value since 2001 and last year's total sales of about £106m are expected to double this year.
