Washington State Rep. William "Ike" Eickmeyer, D-35th District, issued the following news release:
Hood Canal water-quality legislation prime-sponsored by state Rep. Bill Eickmeyer won approval in the state House of Representatives today (March 7).
The measure, passed by a vote of 94-0, "can help our Hood Canal environment by treating sewerage via sewer systems instead of septic systems," said Eickmeyer, D-Belfair.
"We need this strategy as a tool to address more complex sewage issues."
Eickmeyer explained that the legislation, which now goes to the Senate for more discussion, would allow development of new sewer systems and extension of existing systems beyond urban growth areas - "but ...
