Pennsylvania State University at New Kensington issued the following news release:
Just as the vernal equinox is the signal for longer days and shorter nights, and Daylight Savings Time is the precursor of more outdoor activities and less indoor hibernation, the first robin sighting is a harbinger of spring and the annual rebirth of the Penn State New Kensington Nature Trail.
For two members of the Penn State New Kensington Biology department, Bill Hamilton, associate professor, and his wife, Deborah Sillman, instructor, the behavior of the birds raises some interesting questions.
