Eric Kearney wasn't surprised by the excitement that Illinois Sen. Barack Obama generated when he made his tour through Ohio last week.

OK, maybe a little.

"In this part of the state, [the response to Obama] was overwhelming," said Kearney, a state senator from Cincinnati and the leader of Obama's fledgling campaign in Ohio. Kearney just looks at the attendance - and the dollars raised - to say that Ohio seems to love Barack Obama.

"We thought we were going to have 750 people, and over 1,000 showed up. One of the other newspapers said this was the biggest political fundraiser in this market in years."
