Article: TUALATIN POLICE TO USE NON-TRADITIONAL METHODS TO INCREASE SEAT BELT USAGE

The city of Tualatin issued the following news release:

During the weeks of February 5th 2007 through February 18th 2007, there will be increased patrols aimed at increasing the use of appropriate child passenger restraints and seat belt usage. These efforts are funded by the State of Oregon's Three Flags Campaign and are a part of the National Click it or Ticket & Buckle Up America programs.

With an overall compliance rate of above 95%, Tualatin Police will be targeting the less than 5% that don't buckle up. Statistics have shown that people are less likely to buckle up after dark, which is when the majority of serious or fatal crashes occur. In order to increase the overall ...
