Article: Japanese Inventor Develops Optical Waveguide Manufacture Method

ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 3 -- Tsuyoshi Kaneko of Shinosuwa-machi, Japan, has developed an optical waveguide and a method of manufacturing the same.

According to the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "To provide an optical waveguide in which the mounting position, form, and size are favorably controlled, and a method of manufacturing the same an optical waveguide includes discharging a liquid material onto a substrate to form an optical waveguide precursor and hardening the optical waveguide precursor to form an optical waveguide."

The inventor was issued U.S. Patent No. 7,197,212 on March 27.

The patent has been assigned to Seiko Epson Corp., Tokyo.
