Manitoba's two opposition parties made good on their threats to delay the provincial budget yesterday, using legislative procedures to force an animated and highly-charged debate on the biggest day in the legislative calendar.

The shenanigans kept Finance Minister Greg Selinger from tabling the budget and reading the budget speech for almost an hour after its scheduled introduction. It was a shorter delay than some had anticipated but was long enough to flare tempers on the government benches.
