Article: NEW DAIRY CENTER OPENS AT PIONEER FARM

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville issued the following news release:

On Oct. 29, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville officially opened the Pioneer Farm's new state-of-the-art Dairy Center with the cutting of the ribbon by Cory Weigel, dairy herd manager.

The new 30,852 square foot, approximately $2 million facility will open new opportunities in education, research and production methods. It is the first university facility in the nation to have robotic milking equipment. According to Rick Rugg of Bou-Matic, there are approximately 3,000 robotic milkers in the world, most of them being in Europe.
