Article: Pennsylvania strives for energy independence

Various segments of the Pennsylvania economy stand to benefit from the Energy Independence Strategy that has been developed by Gov Ed Rendell.

According to the governor, the plan aims to significantly expand the sectors of alternative fuel, clean energy and conservation. Lower energy costs, greater energy independence and a more vigorous economy will result from the plan's implementation, says the governor.

"This plan will cut Pennsylvania's energy bills by $10 billion over the next 10 years," Rendell said in a media statement. "It will give us the ability to produce enough homegrown fuel to replace every gallon Pennsylvania currently imports from the Persian Gulf."
