"Only the Grace of God has kept us together," said Chuck Barksdale, member and manager of The Dells. He also said that "As men we have caught hell in many ways, but we're still the longest group who have been together for fifty years with the same singers". Their current album is "Open My Heart", a re-release on Volt Records.
The Dells, consisting of Chuck Barksdale, Verne Allison, Michael McGill, Johnny Carter and Marvin Junior are now celebrating fifty years in the entertainment business and are performing Friday with The Whispers, The Dells, Millie Jackson and The Manhattans featuring Gerald Alston & Blue Lovett at the Star Plaza Theatre Friday, May 17 at 7:30 p.m.
