Denim & Jeans: Latest Movements in Japan

Denim has definitely taken a solid hold again as a fashion material in the Japanese apparel industry after repeating a number of jeans booms. Against a backdrop of that situation, the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology launched the "Program for the Development of Quality Personnel in the Designer-Type Denim Manufacturing and Marketing Industries" under the Ministerial Priority Support Plan to Special Education Schools for the Fiscal Year 2006, while selecting the Chugoku Design College (Okayama City) located at the very center of the denim production district as the first designated school under that priority support plan.
