Rep. Lois Capps celebrated the passage of H.R. 1700, the Community Oriented Policing Services (C.O.P.S.) Improvement Act. This bi-partisan legislation would restore the strength of the C.O.P.S. program by providing local law enforcement agencies with the resources to put an additional 50,000 police officers on the beat across the country, including 173 officers on the Central and South Coast, over the next six years.
