Article: Rochester School District Says Low Graduation Rates In State Are Not Reflective of Local Figures

The Rochester City School District issued the following press release:

The Rochester City School District recognizes that its graduation rate of 53% is far too low. However, data released today by the New York State Education Department indicating a declining graduation rate are not reflective of local data maintained by the District as it follows its students through high school.

Cohort graduation rates reflect the percentage of students who enter grade 9 in a given year and who graduate four years later. In addition to that measurement, Rochester monitors students beyond their fourth year of high school to identify those who graduate after completing additional instructional time.
